Albendazole (200mg) works by inhibiting the polymerization of tubulin in the parasite. This prevents the worm from absorbing glucose, effectively starving the parasite of the energy it needs to survive and reproduce.
Ivermectin (1.5mg) targets the glutamate-gated chloride channels in the nerve and muscle cells of the parasite. This causes an influx of chloride ions, leading to hyperpolarization and "Flaccid Paralysis," causing the worm to lose its grip on the intestinal wall so it can be expelled naturally.
